Hello My Lovelies,
BB creams took the beauty world by storm as they worked like a moisturizer, sunscreen and foundation in one. The first BB cream was launched by Dr. Christine Schrammek in 1960’s for protecting her patient’s skin after a surgery or peeling session! It was Koreans who took to the trend and the world followed later! In India it took a few years to launch, and every brand came up with their own version of BB cream and rest is history! I tried almost every BB cream that launched here in India, from Garnier to Maybelline! So, here is a review of the much hyped Ponds BB cream, find out if its work giving a shot!
What the company says about the product:
The secret to spotless pinkish white skin? Pro-Vitamin B3. A potent skin lightening agent proven to reduce dark spots to reveal beautiful and flawless skin. It lightens skin and dark spots by inhibiting the transfer of melanin to the surface of the skin revealing a clear and translucent complexion.

My Take on the Ponds BB Cream
The Ponds BB cream comes sealed in a squeeze tube, with a very fine nozzle to dispense the product out! The screw cap is silver while the tube is white, with pink details! It is nothing fancy to be honest; however, I like the fact that the product doesn’t spill out when you carry it around and you have full control on the amount of cream you need! This is so tiny that it will fit in that smallest corner in your bag; a good travel partner I’d say!
It has this really nice difficult to describe fragrance, which loiters around for a bit and vanishes as soon as you apply it! The cream has an SPF of 30, which is great, as you can never have enough sun protection! It is the highest sun protection any BB cream in India offers, so that scores a brownie point!! However, this is not very photo friendly and makes your face appear all white when photographed with a flash! The bummer here is that, this BB cream comes in just “ONE” shade, yes; you read that right, one shade for every one! The color is biased towards women with medium to fair skin tones; if I had to describe it in a MAC shade I’d say NC35 to NC42!
The consistency is pretty thick and is quite difficult to blend out as it is too matte especially if you have dry skin; as it tends to make it look really patchy! It’s a different story all together, when you have moisturized your face prior, as it blends in really well when your face is hydrated! The best way to use this according to me is, by using it on my freshly moisturized face when the cream is still settling in, I put this on and let it dry with the moisturizer so it gives me this fresh look! I spray some rose water or toner later to seal all the moisture in!
Little goes a long way with this product and the small tube is going to last me ages for sure! I use less than a pea sized amount, have been using it for about four months, and I haven’t even gone half way through the tube! The Ponds BB cream lasts on me for good six hours, the coverage is decent, actually better than all the BB creams out there. However, I dislike the heavy caked up feeling it gives, despite all my efforts! I have a combination skin, and it still doesn’t work as well as I want it to! This is not buildable and may not conceal major flaws!! The claims it makes to help with blemishes and evening out your skin tone are false as well!
Overall Verdict: In my opinion, the Ponds BB cream is an average product that works well only on a well hydrated face! Dry skinned women can find alternatives to this one as it may make you look patchy and unappealing! It’s definitely not the best BB cream out there, as there are a variety of options available in the market these days! The claims are so untrue and this is an okay-ish product for people who are just beginning in make-up! I don’t recommend this!!
