A little about Gerard Cosmetics 1995 Lipstick

Get inspired by the neutral nudes of the 90’s. Inspired by the 90’s grunge revival and the beauty trends of an unforgettable decade, this iconic creation is a matte but creamy lip color that isn’t trendy but a timeless expression of glam.

My Review of the Gerard Cosmetics 1995 Lipstick

Packaging: The packaging of this lipstick is pretty similar to the M.A.C lipsticks but with a classic touch of gold!! I love how luxurious the lipstick looks sitting there in my make-up stash! It is a mix of classy and cute!

Application: On application, the lips look super smooth, blurs out the lines, like you have scrubbed your pucker before applying it!! It does not look grainy and the color wears off evenly, which is a good thing! I love how smooth my lips look after I put the lipstick on!

Finish: Being a matte shade, the lipstick is super-light; though it has a dry formula, but that’s normal for any matte lipstick! However, the good part is, the drying effect does not show up on the lips, neither it is too creamy like M.A.C lipsticks! The lipstick has the perfect consistency of a matte lipstick, as it applies well, without settling into fine lines!! Matte Lipstick+ Non-drying formula= AWESOMENESS!

Color: The color is INDESCRIBABLY BEAUTIFUL, I kid you not!! It is the perfect blend of brown and red, which looks different on every skin tone!! It is a warm lipstick shade that one can pull off both during the day or night!! Regardless, it is a gorgeous red toned nude biased on the brown side!! It goes well with any make-up look; it is indeed that bang-on color for the 90’s makeup trends! If you are looking for a “Kylie Jenner” lip, this shade is close enough! 😀

Odor: I personally love make-up products with a slight fragrance, and this one smells “yummy” like Vanilla, similar to the M.A.C lipsticks, though it is a bit faint! If you do not really like fragrance in your lipsticks, trust me, this is not bothersome to the nose!

Opacity: The lipstick does not show up to my desired liking, until I layer on two coats! May be it’s just me, or it is because my lips are slightly pigmented! But, I do not mind applying an extra layer for the pretty color that it is!  I don’t see the pigmentation is bad, but it’s average in comparison to other lipsticks that I have tried earlier!

Longevity: The lipstick stays put for a good five hours, while wearing off it does leave a slight stain, which is barely noticeable! Also, the good part is that the lipstick does not transfer or bleed, it stays put!

Price: The lipstick is priced at 19 dollars outside India. I got mine for 1100 INR. Although I really like the lipstick, I feel it is a bit over-priced as it comes with its share of pros and cons!

Pros of the Gerard Cosmetics 1995 lipstick
1. Beautiful red toned brown color
2. Universally flattering regardless of your skin tone
3. Classic packaging
4. Is not drying; like other matte lipsticks
5. Smells of Vanilla
6. Superlight formula
7. Does not settle in fine lines
8. Does not bleed
9. Stays a good 5 hours
10. Makes a good Kylie lip color

Cons of the Gerard Cosmetics 1995 Lipstick:
1. Needs layering on for the color to show up better
2. Over-priced
3. May not be easily available!

Dupes: Drugstore: BH cosmetics color lock matte lipstick in Devotion
High-end: MAC Whirl

Mommy Rating: 4/5

Recommendation: Yes, I would recommend it if you do not mind the $19 price tag!

Final Verdict: Overall, I love the shade 1995, as it falls in the perfect zone when it comes to finish and color! It does not make the lips feel heavy neither does it settle into fine lines! The color pay-off and pricing are definitely a drawback, but that wouldn’t stop me from loving it! 😀 I would definitely get this lipstick once again once I’m done with this one! This got me a lot of compliments the first time I wore it! 😀
